Lori Rizzo

Presence • Care • Support

Lori Rizzo is an end-of-life and dementia doula who works in the tender space where illness, memory changes, and end-of-life intersect. Through her practice, Compassionate Crossings, she companions individuals and the people who love them through serious illness, dying, and grief. She provides compassionate support tailored to each person's unique needs, offering steady presence and a soft place to land, someone to help carry the emotional weight these seasons hold, and assistance with practical matters, too.

Lori is an INELDA Certified End-of-Life Doula, a graduate of the Doulagivers Institute, and endorsed by the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA). She supports individuals and families facing serious or life-limiting illness, with particular depth in dementia. A Certified Dementia Death Doula through the Empathic Transitions program at Second Wind Dreams and a Certified Dementia Practitioner, she sees dementia as end-of-life work in its own right. She walks with families across the course of the illness, helping care partners understand dementia and how to care for the person they love, and she stays present through its later stages, when presence becomes its own language.

She serves as a Community Lead of Dementia Friendly Montgomery County, a grassroots initiative to ensure her community is inclusive of those living with dementia and their care partners. Through memory cafés, caregiver support, and community education, families find resources and connection.

Lori is also a death literacy educator and frequently speaks on grief, end-of-life, legacy, dementia, having hard conversations, and final wishes, helping people reflect on what matters most.

She offers both in-person and virtual support, with virtual sessions available for those who prefer or require remote care.
