Laurel Nicholson
Doula • Educator • Theologian
Laurel Nicholson is an End-of-Life Doula Practitioner, theologian, and founder of the Death & Resurrection Doula Training Program, the first end-of-life doula training program built on a biblical theology of death, dying, and bodily resurrection. Stemming from her journey of eating disorder recovery and healing, Laurel has devoted her theological work to reforming approaches within contemporary healing prayer ministries and engaging the Death Positive movement with a distinctly Christian witness. She studied Systematic and Philosophical Theology at the University of Nottingham (UK) and holds a Master’s Degree in Christian Theological and Historical Studies from General Theological Seminary in New York City.
Trained as an End-of-Life (Death) Doula, Laurel has served individuals, families, and communities at death since 2017, offering compassionate presence grounded in the hope of resurrection. She lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with her husband, Ed Nicholson, and is the mother of two adult children, Hannah and Sam.
